FAQs
What is the .NET Framework?
The .NET Framework is a Microsoft technology designed
to enable powerful, secure applications. The framework
is comprised of a number of core components that allow
software developers to concentrate more on their applications
and less on low-level "plumbing" chores.
Why install the .NET Framework?
Applications written for .NET require the framework to
be installed on any computer they run on. The reason for
this is that the framework supplies many functions that
the application depends on.
Where can I get the .NET Framework?
The .NET Framework is a free download from Microsoft through the
Windows Update
site, which will automatically detect whether you have it installed.
Or, if you'd like to download a file that you can install to many clients, you can
download it from us here.
How do I know if I have it installed already?
If you open the Add/Remove programs dialog, you should see
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 in the list. If it does not
appear there, it is not installed.
If you're unsure about whether you have the .NET Framework
installed, you can download PatientTracker with
the framework built into the installer. The installer will
only install the framework if you do not already have it.
Is the .NET Framework secure?
It is one of the most secure ways to write and run
applications. The framework controls how applications
access memory and other resources, so an application
cannot do things it's not allowed to.
Is PatientTracker secure?
Yes. PatientTracker Server runs as a free-standing application
that does not access the Internet and serves only
PatientTracker data. It never accesses the filesystem except to
load and store PatientTracker data in a handful of local files.
PatientTracker only knows about, and has access to, PatientTracker
data. Other data on the system can never be accessed by
PatientTracker.
Is PatientTracker HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
issued the Privacy Rule to implement the requirement of the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The
Privacy Rule standards address the use and disclosure of individuals’
health information.
A major goal of the Privacy Rule is to assure that individuals’ health
information is properly protected while allowing the flow of health
information needed to provide and promote high quality health care and
to protect the public's health and well being. The Rule strikes a
balance that permits important uses of information, while protecting
the privacy of people who seek care and healing.
PatientTracker is HIPAA-compliant because it does not store any
patient information, except a friendly name to show on the screen.
By using only first names, or first names and last initials,
you can be sure to be absolutely HIPAA-compliant.
What is your policy on returns/refunds?
We invite you to try PatientTracker for a free 30-day trial, and purchase
it after you've seen how much it helps you. We will gladly refund your money
if you are not satisfied after purchasing the software, within 30 days of purchase.
Late Breaking Notes / Known Issues
- Drag-and-drop icons stop appearing: In some cases of extremely heavy use, individual clients
stop showing drag-and-drop icons. For example, in such cases, when dragging a patient from one operatory to
the next, the translucent patient icon will not appear under the cursor.
Negative effects are entirely cosmetic, as the application continues to work correctly,
and it is possible to move patients and create pages as usual.
Remedy: Close and re-open the client.
